UL-275 Receiver - Introduction
The UL-275 receiver contains electronics to detect the magnetic field carried by the
containment boundary wire, translates them and delivers warning beeps followed by a mild
electrical stimulation. The stimulation is delivered through two contact probes that touch
your pets' neck. The receiver comes with two sets of probes - one for pets with short hair
& one for those with long hair (most commonly used to ensure contact). Remember, if
the probes do not touch the neck, your collar cannot work.
The UL-275 receiver is enclosed in a fully waterproof case and is mounted on a
polypropylene collar which will fit a dog with varying neck sizes from 9 to 22 inches.
The receiver contains an LED indicator light which acts as a low
battery warning light and confirms which one of the 5 programmable levels have been
selected. The receiver is also equipped with a memory back-up which will remember the last
level programmed even following a battery change ( 4-6 months ). The LED
light will flash correspondingly for the stimulation level selected.
In early 2003, PetSafe updated
the UL-275 receiver collar to incorporate a protected push button on the bottom of the
collar replacing the need for a magnetic key. To date, the programming instruction
booklet for this new collar has not been revised. The addition of this new module also
makes the collar now fully waterproof and more durable in the field than earlier versions
Inserting or changing the Battery
module
Remove the battery module from the collar by twisting the module counter-clockwise to the UNLOCK
position. A small coin may help. This module should now be discarded and replaced with a
fresh module (the contained batteries in the module do not come apart). Insert the
new module back into the collar and be sure to twist the module clockwise to the LOCK
position.
Testing & Programming the UL-275
Receiver
Activating the receiver - To activate the receiver, simply remove the clear button cover on the bottom of the collar by
untwisting and then depress the indented button.
The LED indicator light (top of receiver) will light up. Press the button and count the
number of flashes displayed by the LED light - this number (1-5) will be your current
stimulation level.
Changing the Stimulation level - The levels change incrementally from 1 up to 5
and will revert back to 1 again after level 5. Refer to the LED function & response
table below to choose the appropriate stimulation level for your pet.

Testing the receiver - Attach the test light supplied, to the probes on
the receiver - one wire to each probe and walk towards your boundary wire until the test
light begins to flash and the receiver beeps. This will indicate that the system is
working properly. If the test light did not flash, check the battery installation and be
sure that the probes are secured hand tight.
