A word on "FREE Battery" offers and realistic Shelf-Life ...
If you are looking around Online, you may have seen the 3 - 4 years of "FREE batteries" being offered by some competitors - Is this really as good a deal as it sounds?  The truth is, the manufacturers stated "shelf-life" on these batteries is 1-year.  There simply is NO super-mega-long-life version - PetSafe collars use a fully waterproof 6-volt Lithium battery module which is commonly available.  So, although 3-4 yrs of "FREE batteries" may sound like a great deal at the time - your extra batteries will be dead after 12 months - Buyer beware.

Receiver Fail-Safe. If your pet ever should get trapped in the stimulation zone, the collar is designed to shut down automatically after 20 seconds to prevent any chance of over stimulation.

If you are planning on buying your wire locally (yes you can do this too), we recommend using an "RW" grade 14g or 16g insulated wire - as used in professional installations. The "RW" or "WU" prefix denotes wire that is Direct Burial approved - any quality hardware store or electrical supplier in your area should be able to help with finding the wire you need.
